The 2009 MLB Handicapper Challenge
Starts June 1st! Weekly elimination rounds will narrow the field down to the two best MLB handicappers, who will then go head2head for the Grand Prize.
Deadline to enter is Sunday, June 7th.
The tentative schedule is as follows:

Ideally, we need 64 entries but no one will be shut out. Whatever the number, we will deal with it by eliminating a set number in the first round to get down to an easily manageable factor of 2. The field will be reduced by one-half each week based on money won YTD.
The opening round will run for 2 weeks, ending Sunday, June 14th. For this round only, a minimum 20 plays will be required. Anything less will result in disqualification. All future rounds will have a 10 play minimum. YTD records will carry over to the next round.

- Overnight Lines will be posted most of the time. Otherwise, lines will be posted the morning of the scheduled games (approx 9-11 AM ET). Only games listed will be available for play. No lines will be added later. If a play is made on a game OTB, it will be graded 'no action'.
- All plays are action regardless of any change(s) in starting pitchers.
- Runline, Moneyline and Totals will be available.
- When wagering on Totals (over/under), the game must go 9 innings (8.5 if the home team is ahead) to have action. If a game is called or suspended in extra innings, the score will be determined after the last full inning unless the home team scores to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the score is determined at the time the game is called.
- Rules for Runline wagers are the same as those for Totals.
- The result of a game is official after 5 innings of play unless the home team is leading after 4.5 innings. If a game is called or suspended, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning unless the home team scores to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the winner is determined by the score at the time the game is called.
- If the home team ties the game and it is then suspended, the play will be no action. No carry over to the next day.
- Plays on a favorite are to win $100. Plays on the underdog are to risk $100.
- 3 play max per day.
- One post per day. Additional posts for add-ons will be ignored.
- Deadline to post will be 5 minutes prior to POSTED start time of first game on your playlist. If any plays are posted past the deadline, they will be 'no action'. Only plays posted on time will be graded.
Championship Round
- The Final Round will run from Monday July 27 - Sunday, Aug 9.
- Each day, the 2 finalists will have the option of making (1) 3 unit play and (1) 2 unit play for a chance at winning 6 units per day. 3 play max remains in effect. You must designate your multi-unit plays with stars *** or parentheses (3).
- Throughout the Final Round, copying picks will be prohibited.
- A one unit penalty will be assessed for each offense:
- If the play in question is a winner, the offending player gets a push, his opponent gets the win.
- If the play is a loser, the offending player gets the loss, his opponent gets a push.
- Editing is allowed for 5 minutes after posting. If you see you inadvertently posted a play already used by your opponent, you can go back and change it. Making a second post will not be allowed. Should be no excuses.
- Minimum 20 plays to qualify for the title.
- Should the two players be tied at the end of the contest, a 2 day run-off will be held to determine the winner.
